Jon Thompson is a Cincinnati-based filmmaker, award-winning marketer and entrepreneur with more than 15 years of experience building audiences and creating culture-driven work across entertainment, technology and some of the world’s biggest brands. He is the creator and director of Coworking, a Cincinnati-produced vertical comedy series exploring the personalities, relationships and absurdities of modern work. The series brings together local actors, creators, startups and brands while experimenting with new ways to tell and distribute scripted stories for mobile audiences. Before focusing on filmmaking, Jon built a career in social media and digital strategy, working with brands and organizations including Snapchat, Kroger, Jordan Brand, M&M's and the USTA/US Open. His work has spanned social strategy, emerging technology, influencer marketing, experiential activations and audience development. Today, Jon is focused on the intersection of storytelling, entrepreneurship and emerging, helping build Cincinnati into a place where creators can experiment with what entertainment looks like next.
What does it take to build a television series the same way you build a startup? In this session, The Coworking crew and cast share how a Cincinnati-based team developed, funded, produced, and marketed an original comedy microseries inspired by startup culture and modern work life. Attendees will get a behind-the-scenes look at the rapidly growing world of microseries, vertical storytelling, and microdramas, and why these emerging formats are creating new opportunities for creators, brands, and entrepreneurs.
